Abstract
You will have the opportunity to study in an international and multidisciplinary environment since there is cooperation with the Estonian, Lithuanian, Norwegian and Swedish universities. Within the framework of the Erasmus+, Bova network and LE: NOTRE Institut, students have an opportunity to participate in international study courses online and get acquainted with the international experience

Our graduates work in all kinds of architecture, design, and research companies. They can cover both fields - urban and rural areas and ensure that implemented projects are high quality and sustainable. Our specialists can design different-scale landscapes - residential areas, parks, shopping centers, parkways, golf courses, school campuses, etc.
A Master's degree entitles graduates to continue studies in a respective Doctoral study program at universities in Latvia or abroad.
Aim
To provide students with the knowledge and skills necessary for work in the area of landscape architecture under the guidance of a certified specialist or to continue studies in the professional Master’s degree study program Landscape architecture and planning obtaining the professional qualification of a landscape architect.
Study plan and structure
In the first year of study, you will learn large-scale planning and you will gain knowledge about territory planning processes, while in "Designing Industrial Territories" you will understand the methods of landscape revitalization. One study course is designed as the "development of a thematic plan" - the concept of greenery in a residential area. In the fall semester of the first year of study, there will be an internship at a company.
The second year of study is focused on learning the basics of scientific research, and the theory of Landscape Architecture. In addition, you will learn research methods, data collection, and processing methods, as well as develop your landscape research skills, by going on expeditions. Modern planning is unthinkable without the principles of sustainable landscape development, which you will learn from various aspects, and you will get to know the latest landscape planning concepts. At the end of the second year of study, you will develop a master's thesis.
Learning Outcomes
The graduates of the program can:
- understand the importance of heritage landscapes and natural heritage in the development of the economy;
- develop the guidelines, methodology, and recommendations for landscape management, protection, preservation, and restoration;
- deal with the problems of science and practice in consulting and design companies/organizations, national and municipal institutions;
- apply the acquired academic knowledge when dealing with ecological, aesthetic, and social problems of the landscape in preserving cultural and natural heritage and ensuring landscape sustainability;
- organize the process of work in cooperation with the specialists of related sectors, plan and manage the work, and work in teams by the project development schedule.
Examination procedure
During studies, at the end of each course, there is a test, which is a test of the course project, a lot of studio work-based training. At the end of the study program, a master's thesis, which is a large-scale research and design project, must be developed and defended.
Admission Requirements
Applicants with completed bachelor`s degrees in landscape architecture are approved for admission to the program. Applicants must be able to present good English knowledge (minimum - CEFR level B2, IELTS score 6.0, TOEFL score 520, TOEFL-iBT score 68).
