Winter graduation series concludes with graduates of the Faculty of Economics and Social Development

On January 30, 56 new specialists from the Faculty of Economics and Social Development (LBTU ESAF) of the Latvia University of Life Sciences and Technologies (LBTU) celebrated their winter graduation. Among them, 27 completed bachelor’s degree programs, while 29 earned their master’s degrees.

Five graduates received special recognition during the ceremony: Alfebin Ubaidulla Vadayil from the academic master’s program in "Sociology of Organizations and Public Administration", Jeļizaveta Mihailova, Sindija Evija Stepiņa and Beāte Veipa from the professional master’s program in "Project Management" and Jana Juričuka from the professional master’s program in "Business Management". They were awarded the Excellence Diploma, acknowledging their outstanding performance, discipline, and dedication to their studies.

Opening the ceremony, Acting Dean of the Faculty, Irina Pilvere, addressed the graduates: "Dear graduates, faculty members, and guests! Today, I want to express my gratitude not only to the teaching staff and to you but also to your loved ones who supported you throughout this academic journey. It is my great honor to present each of you with this university’s higher education diploma. Be proud of your achievements and hard work, and I hope that your diploma will open new doors in your professional careers. Remember, your educational path does not have to end here—bachelor’s graduates can continue their studies at the master’s level, while master’s graduates are encouraged to pursue doctoral studies. Wishing you success and happiness!"

Bachelor’s Degree Graduates

At the undergraduate level, 13 graduates from the academic bachelor's program in "Economics" received their diplomas, earning a bachelor of social sciences in economics. During their studies, they acquired the knowledge and skills necessary for research and practical work, enabling them to solve economic problems, make decisions, and manage economic processes in both urban and rural areas of Latvia.

Additionally, 14 graduates from the professional bachelor’s program in "Commerce and Business Management" were awarded the professional bachelor's degree in Business and enterprise management, along with a ,anagerial qualification. The program provided high-quality professional education in business and organizational management, equipping students with the ability to define and formulate fundamental principles for the functioning of businesses and organizations.

Master’s Degree Graduates

Graduates of the professional master’s program in "Project Management" also received their diplomas. A total of 11 graduates earned the professional master’s degree in project management, with some also obtaining the project manager qualification. During their studies, they developed an understanding of theoretical and practical aspects of project development, management, and evaluation, as well as the use of information technology in project execution. Additionally, they gained knowledge in financial management, human resource management, quality control, and regulatory requirements in project management.

The graduate group also included 16 students from the professional master’s program in "Business Management", who received a professional Master’s Degree in Business and Management (MBA) along with an Organization Manager Qualification. Their studies equipped them with interdisciplinary expertise in areas such as agriculture, regional development, governance systems, production, and processing. As a result, they are prepared to become high-level specialists in business and management across various economic sectors.

Two graduates of the academic master’s program in Sociology of Organizations and Public Administration also received their diplomas, earning a master’s degree in social sciences in sociology of organizations and public administration". During their studies, they acquired skills and competencies to assess societal processes, analyze and solve issues in organizations and public administration. The graduates have in-depth knowledge of the functioning and development trends of state and municipal institutions, as well as the evolution of sociology and related scientific fields. They are proficient in applying scientific research methods, conducting independent sociological studies, and utilizing fundamental social science knowledge in planning, decision-making, and implementation processes.

The ESAF winter graduation was the final ceremony of January 2025. However, graduates from the Faculty of Forest and Environmental Sciences (MVZF) and the Faculty of Engineering and Information Technologies (IITF) had already received their diplomas earlier. Graduation ceremonies will resume in June 2025, when students from all LBTU study programs will receive their degrees.
