On January 30, three foreign graduates from the Faculty of Engineering and Information Technologies (IITF) at the Latvia University of Life Sciences and Technologies (LBTU) received their higher education diplomas.

All graduation photos can be viewed and downloaded via this link.

At the graduation ceremony, the acting dean of the Faculty of Engineering and Information Technologies, Ruslans Šmigins, congratulated the graduates: "Today is an important and significant day for both you and us – the university and the faculty. With great joy, we welcome three new specialists who have embarked on their professional journey in the field of information technology, which is in demand not only in Latvia but also worldwide. I am proud and delighted with the achievements of our graduates, which demonstrate your dedication to education. This step is just the beginning, and I wish you a successful career ahead. If any of you have already started your professional path, I encourage you to continue developing your skills, embrace new challenges, and seek opportunities for growth. May your expertise, confidence, and determination never wane! Remember, if you ever wish to deepen your knowledge and enhance your skills, our doors will always be open. Thank you for your contributions, and best of luck in the future!"

Higher education diplomas were awarded to two graduates of the professional bachelor's study program "Information Technologies for Sustainable Development", who obtained a professional bachelor's degree in information technologies and the qualification of a programming engineer. Programming engineers acquire knowledge of programming languages, system modeling, the development of web systems of various complexities, database creation and management, becoming highly qualified specialists in software engineering. They are well-prepared to professionally participate in software development projects. In the 4th year of studies, students undergo a 26-week qualification internship at leading information technology companies.

After graduation, students can work in various phases of software development as programmers, machine learning specialists, system analysts, and other IT professionals. A significant number of students are offered permanent employment at their internship companies upon completing their professional practice. Our students and graduates work at companies such as Accenture Latvia, C.T.Co, Emergn Latvia, TestDevLab, Lattelecom Technology, and others.

Meanwhile, an international graduate of the academic master's study program "Information Technologies" received a master’s degree in engineering sciences in information technologies. During the program, students develop skills to independently conduct scientific research, software and hardware design, and implementation projects in the IT field. The curriculum provides in-depth knowledge of IT analysis, design, and implementation methods, as well as an introduction to modern software development models and techniques. Alongside practical application, the program also offers fundamental training in scientific research.

A master’s degree in engineering sciences in the field of IT lays the foundation for further career development in two directions. Firstly, in the production sector, graduates can take on leadership roles, ranging from team and project management to founding an IT company or becoming a company director. Secondly, in the scientific field, graduates have the opportunity to continue doctoral studies, which, upon completion, allow them to take on academic or research leadership roles requiring a doctoral degree.

The winter graduation series will conclude with the celebration of graduates from the Faculty of Economics and Social Development. It is worth noting that the 2025 graduation ceremonies will continue in June, when graduates from all LBTU study programs will receive their diplomas.
