A delegation from Azerbaijan State University of Economics (ASUE) visited the Latvia University of Life Sciences and Technologies (LBTU)

A delegation from Azerbaijan State University of Economics (ASUE) visited the Latvia University of Life Sciences and Technologies (LBTU) to discuss potential collaboration in research, education, student exchange and dual diploma programs. This visit marked a promising step towards strengthening international ties between the two institutions.

The LBTU delegation included:

  • Gatis Vītols, Vice-Rector for Science
  • Irina Pilvere, Dean of the Faculty of Economics and Social Development
  • Mārtiņš Šabovics, Head of the International Cooperation Centre
  • Viktorija Krištopane, Chief Specialist in the Organization of International Dual Diploma Programs

The ASUE delegation consisted of:

  • Elman Jafarov, Dean of the Faculty of Digital Economy
  • Mansur Barkhudarov, Head of the Center of Cognitive Economics
  • Gultaj Tahirli, Specialist in the International Department

During the meeting, both universities introduced their institutional structures and academic offerings. ASUE showcased its diverse study fields and extended an invitation to LBTU to participate in joint scientific projects. In turn, LBTU highlighted its university structure, with a focus on the Faculty of Economics and Social Development. The university also outlined its primary areas of study, including Food Technologies, Economics, and Information Technology.

One of the significant outcomes of the discussions was ASUE's proposal to establish a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) and initiate a dual diploma program in Information Technology. This proposed program would follow a 2+2 bachelor’s degree model, allowing students to study at both institutions.

Both universities expressed optimism about future collaborations. The discussions set the foundation for joint research initiatives, academic exchanges, and the development of dual diploma programs that will benefit students and faculty from both institutions.

The visit concluded with a shared commitment to advancing academic cooperation and fostering innovation through international partnerships.
