For the 14th time International Student Conference will take place in Jelgava
On April 26th Latvia University of Life Sciences and Technologies in Jelgava will host an annual international student conference “Students on Their Way to Science”, which was once an initiative of LLU Language Center lecturers, but is currently recognized as one of the largest student scientific conferences in the Central and Eastern Europe, which involves students from universities in Latvia and other countries.
The aim of the conference is to popularize scientific research and develop intercultural communication experience. The working language of the conference is English, so developing foreign language skills is one of the major benefits for the conference participants. At the same time, some students have the opportunity to approbate the results of their bachelor, master and doctoral research, as well as gain knowledge about research in the field of science represented in other countries.
The work of the conference on 26th April will begin with a plenary session at 10.00 am in the Silver Hall of Jelgava Castle, but at 13.00 p.m. will continue with sections in faculties. This year 113 applications were registered at the conference, of which 28 are foreign student study reports. Thus, 10 countries are represented at the conference: Lithuania, Russia, Belarus, France, Poland, Hungary, Turkey, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan and Latvia.
Most participants have registered in the social sciences and agriculture sections, but students will also read reports in veterinary medicine, food science, engineering, education, information technology, environment and construction sciences, forestry and woodworking. In addition, the range of message topics is very wide and covers non-traditional research objects such as depression and diet, robots, smartphones, forest as a food source, use of information technology in medicine, thermal comfort, industrial gardens, mushrooms as construction materials, urban agriculture, self-employed motivation, distribution of heavy metals, vegetable milk, field beans, blackberries trees, peaches, pumpkin seed meal, embryo quality, etc.
