Create your Christmas dream in Jelgava Palace
Christmas is a time for dreaming, where the greatest miracles happen and astonishing fairy stories comes to life. All you have to do is create a dream in your heart and allow it to become a reality. Even the biggest skeptics during the Christmas time involuntarily indulge in fairy temptation and unconsciously put a gingerbread dough in their shopping carts, on music streaming sites begin to listen to "White Christmas" and dreams about the joy of receiving gifts.
In December, the Latvian University of Agriculture (LLU) family will open the door of their hearts at Jelgava Palace and will let everyone to take part in their Christmas dreams. Come, participate and dream with us!
When food technologists become architects.
Gingerbread smell at Jelgava palace cellars emerged in late November, when students of the Faculty of Food Technology began to cook "raw materials" for the gingerbread houses. They will go for the unknown and even though for a few hours will step into the shoes of builders and architects and will build castles, buildings, roads, tress, wreaths and other interesting things from gingerbread dough and icing.
Students architectural masterpieces will be available for everyone to see at the Jelgava Palace museum from 12th till 23rd of December during the exhibition of gingerbread products. Also the exhibition visitors will be able to vote for the item they like the most.
When gingerbread man and horses come to life.
The youngest citizens of Jelgava are invited to experience a dream in which gingerbread hearts, Christmas trees, gingerbread man and horses come to life with the help of icing, edible balls and starm. All pre-school and primary school groups are invited to participate in creative gingerbread decorating wirkshops.
Since the workshops takes place in such ancient and aristocratic place as Jelgava Palace, the university students won’t be the ones who will run the workshop, workshops will be run by the court ladies. Nevertheless no one ever knows when will the management of the workshop will be taken over by the palace mistress herself – Duchess Dorothea – and will treat visitors with special Jelgava Palace tea and help write special letters to Santa. Also available will be Candle workshop, Bell workshop, Christmas Letters workshop and hot chocolate tasting.

When everyone become princesses and princes at the Christmas Ball while dancing polonaise.
Only once a year at Jelgava Palace Polish composers Michael Cleophas Oginskis “Polonaise” introduces the annual Christmas party and every lady and gentleman, who at that moment are at the Palace, becomes princes and princesses of Courtland and Semigallia and turns Cinderella’s dream into reality. We can tell you a little secret – this year the magic moment will happen on December 17th at 20.00.
Palace courtiers promise that more than 70 different artists – musicians, actors, dancers and singers will take care of guests well-being. This year Jelgavas Big Band led by Raitis Ašmanis together with soloists Ieva Kerēvica and Ivars Jercums, band “Kraujas band” with soloists Ira Krauju-Dūduma, band “Almost Famous”, musical union “A’ pie mums Jelgavā”, tenor Jānis Kurševs, violinist Inta Broka, LLU choir “Liepa”, etc. Ball guests will have the opportunity to watch a musical theatrical performance “Courland legend ambassadors” and walk around the corridors of the palace.

When students and professors become sellers at the Christmas market.
Who hasn’t dreamed in childhood to become a seller in a store besides not with a fake money and imaginary customer, but with genuine money, issued in Latvian Bank and with real buyers? Normally LLU students are attending lectures, studying, stress about test scores and prepare for the final exams till the middle of the night, but on December 19th the will forget about their troubles and will become sellers in the traditional Christmas market. In addition, the will stand next to their professors who usually are standing in front of the audience and explains theories or formulas.
It turns out that the LLU team has a lot of students and teachers who at their free time make little miracles – decorations, knitwear, wooden products, sweets, greeting cards and other products.
This year Christmas market will take place on December 19th at 14.00 at the LLU Aula lobby and at the Sudraba hall. To become a seller at the market you have to apply in advance by sending an e-mail to informacija@llu.lv. While those who feel better as buyers are invited to prepare thick wallets and indulge in a dream of beautiful handmade gifts for their loved ones.
During the market LLU Students council will offer to participate in various workshops. The money raised from these workshops will go to charity to help fulfill the dreams of other people.
