A contract for the first joint study program between Baltic universities has been signed
On the 21st of October at Kaunas a tripartite agreement on a joint Masters degree study programme “Agri-Food Business Management” was signed by Latvia University of Agriculture, the Estonian University of Life Sciences and Aleksandras Stulginskis university.
“Two years ago at BOVA event an idea about a joint study program between Baltic countries was born. The aim is to provide students with the best experience and knowledge that will be provided by the industry professionals in Baltic countries as well as the faculty of agribusiness sector” says dean of LLU faculty of Economics and Social Development Andra Zvirbule who was the initiator for establishment of the new MBA program.
At European universities the establishment of agribusiness programs is becoming more popular due to the coverage of agriculture and management thus providing an opportunity for student to gain much more comprehensive experience and knowledge which will significantly contribute to their competitiveness in the labor market,”says A. Zvirbule.
The agreement was signed by LLU rector Irina Pilvere, Estonian University of Life Sciences rector Mait Klaassen and the rector of Aleksandras Stulginskis university Antanas Mazilauskas.
Masters studies program will be carried out in English for two years, one semester in Jelgava, one in Tartu and one in Kaunas. At the Estonian University of Life Sciences student will mainly gain knowledge on agribusiness economy, in Lithuania at the Aleksandras Stulginskis university – agribusiness financial management while in Latvia – agribusiness management. It is planned that the implementation of the new study program will start next year.
