Colombian Ambassador is interested in cooperation with LLU
On the 4th of October LLU rector Irina Pilvere met with the Colombian Ambassador to Poland Victoria Gonzalez, to present her the implemented studies at university, research activities and discuss the Colombian students interest in studying in Latvia and the possibilities for promotion of LLU.
At Jelgava palace Ambassador and her accompanying delegation were introduced to the offered studies at LLU, infrastructure and scientific achievements as well as opportunities for foreign students at LLU – both full-time study and short-term courses.
Colombian Ambassador expressed a particular interest about LLU Lifelong Learning Centers summer school for foreign students, therefore it is planned to make a common project – summer school for Colombian students. Summer schools theme will be linked to the forest landscape and its use. During the meeting it became clear that Ambassador is looking at closer cooperation with the Forest Faculty. She was also interested in Faculty of Agriculture. “In Colombia there is a lot of unused, fertile land. We want to learn the good practice of LLU and gain more experience in the agricultural and forestry sector,” said the Ambassador.
At the end of the visit the Embassy delegation went on a tour of the LLU museum and were introduced to the history of Jelgava palace.
