On the first badminton practice Latvia University of Agriculture receives a gift – 16 badminton rackets
Badminton practices began on the 7th of September at the Latvia University of Life Sciences and Technologies Sports Center. At the end of the first practice, LLU Sports center, aso ne of the 17 member organization of the Latvian badminton federation, was the first one to officially receive one “Shuttle Time” badminton bag which contains 16 Yonex rackets, 4 nets and 4x6 nylon badminton balls.
During this week 75 such bags were brough from European Badminton Confederations Denmark office and during September will be distributed in Latvian educational institutions which plan to play badminton. This way it is planned to promote badminton in schools and universities.
“Shuttle Time” badminton kit is sufficient for the play of badminton in every school, sports and assembly hall. All school has to do is make the lines of the badminton field as well as figure out how to attach the badminton net to the walls.
The new badminton rackets will come in handy especially on September 19th when the LLU Sports House will hold the traditional LLU Badminton Singles tournament for freshmen .
Badminton as well as other years will be the most playe game in LLU Sports Center because badminton practices will be held 6 times a week:
- Monday 16:30-18:00 (LLU students)
- Tuesday 08:30-10:00 (LLU students and adults)
- Wednesday 16:30-18:00 (LLU students)
- Thursday 16:00-17:30 (LLU students)
- Friday 08:30-10:00 (LLU students and adults)
- Sunday 11:00-13:00 (Everyone)
For LLU students badminton practices are for free, fee for people outside LLU €1,50.
The popularity of adminton in Jelgava at the moment is rising. People from Jelgava are Latvian champions in both youth as well as in senior age group. ”Yonex Latvia International” badminton tournament also are held in Jelgava.
